Mastermind groups rock! I have found they have worked the best when I host them in my home and buy snacks for everyone – 6 to 8 is perfect like you said. I also found that when I did mastermind groups on the net doing them by email was more of an accountability system than masterminding… still valuable just different.

My complaint was that I kept running into mastermind groups that were thinly vieled mlm’s. I am not sure that is what Napoleon Hill had in mind in the Mastermind group chapter in the 1933 book that first coined the idea.

I don’t participate in or host a full on mastermind group but I have a list of 2-3 people that I check in with regularly. We make a list of each others’ goals for the week/month and we hold one another accountable to making progress on each of those goals. I can’t begin to tell you how helpful all of this really is!

It’s great for both brainstorming and creation of new ideas and it’s also great for accountability.

I like the concept of the mastermind group. Even setting aside the sharing of wisdom and input, just the act of involving others in your own projects can make a big difference. Makes you much more likely to stick to something.
